Jesus' Lil Brother

Right now I'm doing a Beth Moore study in the life and book of James. This is the James who has a book in the Bible. He's also Jesus' little brother.

Based on Matthew 13:55-56 tell us that there were at least 7 people living under Mary and Joseph's roof. Since Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and didn't share the same father, then his siblings were his half siblings. So James was the son of Joseph, while Jesus was the Son of God. Pretty distinct differences! And you'll see how different they are if you read all of their encounters. John 7:5 states, "For even His own brothers did not believe in Him." Wow! My guess is there was probably some jealousy as there is with most siblings. But could you imagine your brother being flawless?? I'm sure the conversation in the house went something like this, "James, why can't you be more like your brother, Jesus?" That's just what I imagine. I haven't gotten too deep in this study, but I can't wait to learn more about James and how he changed throughout his life. If you read the book of James, you'll know that James believed Jesus is the Son of God, so there was definitely a transformation that took place. I always get a kick out of this video about "Jesus' Lil Brother." The guy in the video is Michael Jr., a Christian comedian. It's hilarious, but it also helps you picture what it must have been like to be related to Jesus.
